Synopsis

As it had been foretold, the armies of the Universe gathered at Trenzalore. Only one thing stood between the planet and destruction – the Doctor. For nine hundred years, he defended the planet, and the tiny town of Christmas, against the forces that would destroy it.

He never knew how long he could keep the peace. He never knew what creatures would emerge from the snowy night to threaten him next. He knew only that at the end he would die on Trenzalore.

Some of what happened during those terrible years is well documented. But most of it remains shrouded in mystery and darkness….Until now.

This is a glimpse of just some of the terrors the people faced, the monstrous threats the Doctor defeated. These are the tales of the monsters who found themselves afraid – and of the one man who was not.

INTO THE NOWHERE

Into The Nowhere is the second e-book in the Doctor Who Time Trips series from BBC Books. This downloadable  story is set between The Day of the Doctor and The Time of the Doctor.

It’s not on any maps, it’s not referenced on any star charts or in the TARDIS databanks. It doesn’t even have a name. What could be so terrible that its existence has been erased?

February 8th sees the release of the next e-book in the series, Keeping Up with The Joneses by Nick Harkaway.

MOFFAT ON BBC RADIO 2

Steven Moffat was a guest on Chris Evans Breakfast Show on BBC Radio 2. He talked Sherlock and answered his critics who have offered criticisms of his plot holes.

I think people have come to think a plot hole is something which isn’t explained on-screen. A plot hole is actually something that can’t be explained.

Sometimes you expect the audience to put two and two together for themselves. For Sherlock, and indeed Doctor Who, I’ve always made the assumption that the audience is clever.

MOFFAT ON PETER CUSHING

In a perfect world Steven Moffat would like to have included Peter Cushing in the recent 50th Anniversary Special.

Cushing played The Doctor in two feature films, Dr. Who and the  Daleks in 1965 and Daleks’ Invasion Earth 2150 in 1966. These films were produced for theatrical release.

peter-cushing-doctor-who

Moffat spoke about it in the latest issue of Doctor Who Magazine.

When I started writing The Day of the Doctor I knew I wanted every Doctor to make some sort of appearance… But what about Peter Cushing? Now I love those movies… but they don’t exactly fit with the rest of the show, do they? … You remember that line, in the Black Archive, when Kate is explaining about the need to screen the Doctor’s known associates… She wasn’t supposed to be looking at the Vortex Manipulator – originally she was walking past the posters for the two Peter Cushing movies. In my head, in the Doctor’s universe those films exist as distorted accounts of his adventures… Sadly we couldn’t afford the rights to the posters.

Paul McGann returns to Big Finish in February with another installment of the Dark Eyes series.
